Disappointing.

That's the word. "Disappointing." I was skimming the Salvation Army store in our area, having just dropped off some stuff, and randomly ended up in a movie area. I was very excited to see a couple movies that I had been thinking about lately. I quickly bought them, with the change in my wallet, and decided to watch one of them that night (while doing some chores).
So this movie is one of those movies I think most of us would classify as "classic" romantic comedy. Its definitely dated, but holds fond memories. To say the least, I was really looking forward to it.

I don't know what happened though! Here's what I saw:
-stalker-like behavior romanticized
-abusing work relationships to meet personal needs
-abusing work resources
-invasion of privacy
-the ends justify the means
-a child using way inappropriate words
-children having very adult conversations
-adults saying very adult things in front of a child
-a couple living together before they are married
-an engaged woman pursuing another man
-lying and subterfuge being encouraged
-immorality portrayed as either no big deal/boring or romantic
-a complete misportrayl of love
and so much more!

Can I just say, I was very disappointed! Well, coupled with that disappointment is the positive side-I didn't just "enjoy" the movie, I couldn't! Because it romanticized and glamorized things that I found offensive and even sinful. I chose to walk away disappointed in the movie (and my previous experience with it); but also encouraged-I am *hopefully* not conforming to the world, but being transformed!

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

Definately add this to 'The List!'
You will NOT regret it and Aaron will be so happy, he'll offer to send you to a day at the spa, or to Hawaii... well maybe not, but Bryan sure LOVED them!
The mountain dew was the main reason I tried the recipe... I thought it was really quirky and it actually melds together with the sugar and butter and makes this amazing caramel sauce.. mmmmm :)
