Shine

Reading Philippians 2 I saw something and was reminded of something-thought I'd share...
God has a plan for our lives, and while they all intersects and lean on each other, I think you can see three aspects of that plan; Upward (in praising and glorifying Him), Inward (in our personal relationship and growth in Him), and Outward (He wants us impact the world around us). In this dark place, we who have the Light of the world in us can shine so brightly, and we need to!
Our church was recently asked the question by our speaker, "How can the world know you are different, if you don't look any differently than they do?" Good question.
Philippians 2:15 says that we, as believers, are to be "blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world"
Anybody else hearing the children's' song, This Little Light of Mine, echoing in their heads? I've been humming it all day and singing it with Luke.

This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a bushel? No!
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

Won't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine
Won't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine
Won't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine,
Let it shine,
Let it shine.

I hope I got you humming, maybe even singing, and if that song doesn't work, maybe this one will...Go Light Your World!

Our Visit to Texas, Part 3

Since we are just hitting the highlights, next up is Luke's birthday party! Yep, that's right, Luke turned 2 years old while we were in Texas, on August 12th. Happy birthday Luke!

Luke had a great birthday party with his family in Texas!

Our Visit to Texas, Part 2

Ahh, the Golf Tournament. We try to do this every time the whole family is together. We draw for partners, and play best ball from the tee, then alternate play for the rest of the hole. At the end there is a trophy, a plaque (of which I neglected to get a picture of this year-sorry), and of course-bragging rights.

The players this year were: my Grandpa Farrell, my Dad Dean, Aaron, my brother Cody, my brother-in-law Mark, and my sister-in-law Courtney and my sister Amanda (who were each "half a partner", playing only nine holes each).
Mark, Amanda and Courtney won the tournament, by one stroke! They came in from behind! This is Courtney's first year on the plaque! Congrats guys.

Our Visit to Texas

Great news! We got a new camera. And I get to share pictures with you all. These are some of the pictures we took, just a few from hanging out the first couple of days.

Luke's Bedtime song

Jesus loves me
This I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
There are weak, but He is strong.
~
Chorus
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so
~
Jesus loves me
He who died
Heavens' gates to open wide
He will wash away my sin
Let His little child come in
~
Jesus loves me
He will stay
Close beside me all the way
He's prepared a place for me
And His face one day I'll see

Recommendation

I am rereading Ben-Hur, by Lew. Wallace yet again. A wonderful book! Now seriously, if you have not read this book (or at least settled for the movie-which is pretty amazing as well) you have deprived yourself of classic literature and a wonderful story! So, go get it, or borrow it from me when I'm done-but read it. Let me know when you do.

News!

1) Luke has learned how to jump! Both feet off the ground-very exciting. He is so proud of himself.

2) I broke my camera video taping it. :( Sorry folks! don't worry, Aaron has a camera-I just don't like it as much.)

3) I have an appointment on August 21 and we should be able to find out if we are having a boy or a girl that day. YEAH!

Some more pictures of Tre and Addy, am I the only one who sees a resemblance here?

Alrighty here-this kid Tre looks just like my younger siblings when they were littler (still, but not as much to me). Amanda and Cody always had similarities, and when I look at Tre I feel sometimes like I am going back in time! Maybe I'll try to get some comparison pictures for you.
