Disappointing.

That's the word. "Disappointing." I was skimming the Salvation Army store in our area, having just dropped off some stuff, and randomly ended up in a movie area. I was very excited to see a couple movies that I had been thinking about lately. I quickly bought them, with the change in my wallet, and decided to watch one of them that night (while doing some chores).
So this movie is one of those movies I think most of us would classify as "classic" romantic comedy. Its definitely dated, but holds fond memories. To say the least, I was really looking forward to it.

I don't know what happened though! Here's what I saw:
-stalker-like behavior romanticized
-abusing work relationships to meet personal needs
-abusing work resources
-invasion of privacy
-the ends justify the means
-a child using way inappropriate words
-children having very adult conversations
-adults saying very adult things in front of a child
-a couple living together before they are married
-an engaged woman pursuing another man
-lying and subterfuge being encouraged
-immorality portrayed as either no big deal/boring or romantic
-a complete misportrayl of love
and so much more!

Can I just say, I was very disappointed! Well, coupled with that disappointment is the positive side-I didn't just "enjoy" the movie, I couldn't! Because it romanticized and glamorized things that I found offensive and even sinful. I chose to walk away disappointed in the movie (and my previous experience with it); but also encouraged-I am *hopefully* not conforming to the world, but being transformed!

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

"You're not in the South anymore, Dorothy."

-that's what my mom said to me as I told her my surprise at an act of kindness refused.

We live right on Douglas here in our town, and the road is being widened. The men cutting down trees were right behind our house all morning and did a fantastic job. Luke and I know-because we watched them. The machinery is so loud, and I'm sure they can't hear each other, but they worked seamlessly, as a team. It was very cool to watch. They also accomplished much more than I was anticipating in such a short time!
All that to say, we made them cookies and took the cookies out to their supervisor...well, he refused to take them! He wasn't rude, but he would not accept the cookies, and didn't give a reason why. I can come up with many different scenarios that could explain why, but really I was surprised.
I was reminded that when we moved here, a similar situation occurred with our mail-person.
It is very sad, to say the least, when your attempts at kindness are refused.

But we can sit here and watch them work (probably all summer) and hope that they appreciated the gesture.

'...not in (the South) anymore', to be sure.

Sleepy

So tired....
...Luke fell asleep watching a movie the other day, it was so cute. I didn't realize he was that tired; I looked up and there he was-sound asleep. So asleep, he didn't notice me go get the camera and take a few pics! :D

The Brackets

Aaron's Bracket
Aaron finished in our Group at 2nd Place, and in the entire Yahoo Sports.com at #456,866.

Brittany's Bracket

I finished in our Group at 3rd Place (by the way-Shea finished 1st!), and I ended at #728,290 in the entire Yahoo Sports.com . Okay, not so good there towards the end (where it matters). At the end of the regional finals though, I was ranked #100 in the entire Yahoo Sports.com! That alone was very exciting for me. I had fun. Thanks Exegeters for inviting me!

Chain Quiz

So I wasn't going to do this quiz, tagged or not-but then I got tagged, 3 times! I was tagged by Morgan, Amanda and Heather. THANKS. So instead of finding this annoying, I am choosing to think that at least those three people wondered what I would put as answers to this quiz. Now you all suffer. ;)

Yearn Lyrics

Yearn
by Shane and Shane
~
Holy design
This place in time
That I might seek and find
My God, my God
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
Lord, I want to yearn
~
Your joy is mine
Yet why am I fine?
With all my singing and bringing grain
In lights of Him
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
~
Oh, You give life and breath
And in You we live and move
That's why i sing
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
Lord, I want to yearn
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
~
Lord, I want to yearn for You
I want to burn with passion
Over You, and only You
Lord, I want to yearn
~
